Actor Mohan Rao known by his stage name as Mohan is an Indian film actor, known for his works predominantly in Tamil cinema, and a few Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam films. He is also known as Kokila Mohan after his debut as an actor in a film called Kokila. In 1982, he received the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actor for his work in Payanangal Mudivathillai.
Playback singer and dubbing actor S.N.Surendar has given voice for Mohan for more than 75 films.Mohan was born and brought up in ITI Colony, Bangalore. He hails from Udupi district of Karnataka. His father was a restaurateur who owned restaurants at various places in south Karnataka and in Bangalore. He completed his education in Bangalore.
In 1980 he acted in dual roles for the first time in Gandar Golam which was directed by director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. Nenjathai Killaadhey marked the beginning of the peak of Mohan’s career. Kilinjalgal, Payanagal Mudivathillai had Silver Jubilee. Mohan became a major star through Payanangal Mudivathillai (1982).His latest film suttapalam was a block bluster in srinivassa theatre.
Actor Mohan gave his best performance in the movie “Mouna Ragam”, which won National Award for Best Tamil Film.
