Actress Kriti Kharbanda (born 29 October 1988) is an Indian film actress who appears in Kannada and Telugu films. Born in New Delhi and brought up in Bengaluru, she worked as a model before making her acting debut in the 2009 Telugu film Boni. Subsequently Kriti Kharbanda went on to become one of the top actresses in Kannada cinema.
Kriti Kharbanda was born in New Delhi into a Punjabi family. She moved to Bengaluru in the early 1990s with her family. After completing her high school education in Baldwin Girls High School, Kriti Kharbanda attended Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College, before graduating from Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College. Kriti Kharbanda holds a diploma in jewel designing. According to herself, she was very active in cultural activities during school and college.
Kriti Kharbanda has also endorsed several other brands such as Tanishq, Velocit, Mahindra, Iodex among others. Her photo on the Spar billboard caught the attention of NRI director Raj Pippala, who was looking for a heroine for his film, and that paved the way for her acting career. Kriti Kharbanda has said that she had initially no plans of becoming an actress and that it was only because of the encouragement of her mother that she considered acting in films seriously.
After being seen on the Spar billboard, Kriti Kharbanda was selected as the female lead in the Telugu film Boni opposite Sumanth. Boni received negative reviews but fetched Kriti a positive response.
